| EBSCO Branding Changes for PASCAL |
Among the many elements that we have been working on in developing our responses to PASCAL’s funding crisis is an attempt to foster a greater awareness on the part of our students and faculty regarding the source that provides many of the resources that they depend on. Coupled with that, obviously, is need to make them aware that funding for these resources is in great peril. Accordingly, we are revising the branding language that appears in our databases to emphasize PASCAL and the funding crisis. For example, we will be replacing the footer that currently appears in EBSCOHOST databases with the following: [Pascal logo] Your access to this electronic resource is in danger! Funding cuts by the South Carolina General Assembly will require PASCAL and member libraries to greatly reduce the number of resources made available to South Carolina's students and faculty. To learn more, including what you can do, please visit Help Save PASCAL ! The linking page explains the crisis and lists the resources being lost. As we announced on Friday , we’ve made some improvements tot this page and also have uploaded a new informational FAQ that folks may use as the basis for communications with stakeholders. We are making this change in accordance with a directive from the PASCAL Board of Directors. We plan on making the change by November 21. While EBSCOHOST is no doubt the place where we have the most visibility, we will also be working on ways to further improve our branding and informational outreach in other places as well, so stay tuned.
