When we launched our new website
last May, I called it “an interim step towards our goal of a full state-of-the
art web presence that begins to embody more current technology and better
design.” Over the weekend, we’ll be taking another major step in this direction
with the release of a major upgrade to the site.
We’ve reorganized the underlying
structures to take full advantage of the search and retrieval features of the
Joomla web management software we’re using. I think we have greatly improved
the navigation and graphics of the site. New features include better search and
document browsing capabilities, as well as clearer routing from our front page
to public services and information. Access to committee and technical documentation requires a login. This continues to be the same one as in the past. You’ll find committee and planning materials under “member information.” We think the redesign will make this area more useful to you over time. We will also be incorporating documentation and training Wiki into the membership area in the near future.
We like this upgrade, and hope that
you will too. One of the especially nice features is the photo gallery of
member libraries that you’ll find on the “about us” page. We’d like to thank
the libraries that contributed to this presentation initially, and hope that
others will continue add to the collection.
