PASCAL is pleased to announce that it has subscribed to Liebert Online. The service delivers electronic access to peer-reviewed journals published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. This critical mass of content exceeds 28,000 papers from more than fifty-five authoritative journals, all full-text searchable and linked to external bibliographic databases. Liebert Online is universally acknowledged for establishing authoritative peer-reviewed journals in the most promising areas of biotechnology, biomedical research/life sciences, clinical medicine and surgery, and law.

Within the Consortial Purchasing Committee, the group that guides our selection process, there was enthusiasm for this service from all levels of the PASCAL community. The health sciences content was of special interest accross a broad spectrum of institutions; ranging from our two year institutions supporting nursing programs to our research institutions involved in biotechnology R & D.

This acquisition was accomplished through a unique partnership with the Carolinas Consortium, a "buyers' club" of academic institutions in North and South Carolina. While the North Carolina group was put together on an opt-in basis, PASCAL is representing and paying for all South Carolina institutions using state virtual academic library funds.

We are in the process of sending new South Carolina institutions information on gaining access to the collections. Either Mary Ann Liebert or PASCAL should contact the licensing coordinator we have on file for each library within the next day or so.
